East London Triathletes (supported by Triathlon England,) are hosting a talk on “Nutrition: its importance and influence on performance” by Wendy Martinson OBE. Wendy is a highly respected and experienced professional nutritionist with extensive experience working with elite athletes.
In 2008 she spent over 5 weeks working in China as the HQ Sports nutritionist for Team GB at the Beijing Olympic Games. She was initially based at the holding camp in Macau supporting athletes in their final preparations and then moved to Beijing during the Games supporting rowing, canoeing and open water swimming during their competition phase. She also worked as the HQ Nutritionist at the Barcelona holding camp prior to the Athens Olympics 2004.
She has worked with many other athletes in Ironman distance triathlon, marathon running (including marathon des sable), swimming, rugby, cycling, formula 1 and formula 3 racing, sailing, golf and adventure racing. She also worked with a team competing in the 2005 Woodvale transatlantic rowing race.
In the New Year 2010 Honors’ list Wendy was awarded an OBE for services to sport and to nutrition.
